Blob goes
to university

The Blob Campus Program — an invitation to The First Twenty.

Every AI company has a campus ambassador program. Referral codes, branded hoodies, a leaderboard nobody reads. We're doing the opposite: twenty handpicked hosts who bring people together in person — phones down, on your side.

$1,000/month + incentives · 5–8 hrs/week · one per campus · closes in 3 weeks

Blob 101 · The Premise

Why this program exists

Every AI company has a campus ambassador program. They all look the same: a referral code, a branded hoodie, a leaderboard, and a monthly Zoom no one turns their camera on for. Students can smell it a mile away.

Blob's whole premise is that AI should feel human, private, and on your side — the AI where your conversations can't be subpoenaed, sold, or scraped. A campus program built on spam tactics would contradict the product. So instead of recruiting promoters, we're recruiting hosts: a small, handpicked group who bridge the analog world and the AI one — in person, phones down, on their own campuses.

20 of the right people beat 2,000 of the wrong ones.

Curation is the strategy. Scarcity is the marketing.

Blob 201 · Philosophy

Hosts, not hype people

Three principles govern every decision.

01
Curated, never scaled
Twenty people. If we can’t find twenty great ones, we run with twelve. Getting in should feel like a good restaurant group chat, not a newsletter.
02
Analog first
An AI company whose campus presence is famously offline. Dinners, salons, print zines, phones-in-a-basket conversations. Blob shows up in rooms, not just feeds.
03
Two-way street
Ambassadors are a listening post, not a distribution channel. Field notes go straight to product. When a feature ships because of one, we say so publicly.
Admissions · The Profile

Who we're looking for

Not necessarily CS majors. Not necessarily influencers. We're hiring the campus connector: the person who knows the dining-hall staff by name, who can fill a room on a Tuesday, whose group chats decide where everyone goes on Friday.

Follower counts are explicitly not a criterion.

Traits that matter, in order
1. People actually listen to them
2. They host things without being asked
3. They have real opinions about technology and privacy
4. They follow through
Curriculum · Field Work

What Blobs do on campus

Four lanes. Every ambassador runs all four.

Field 5.1 · Signature
Analog Hours
A monthly phones-down salon. 12–30 people, real chairs, real snacks, one question: "What should AI never do?" No pitch. Privacy comes up because privacy is home turf.
Field 5.2
Blob Sessions
Hands-on AI education. Studying without cheating yourself, job hunting, what a subpoena can’t reach. Co-hosted with existing clubs so you borrow rooms and audiences.
Field 5.3
The Sign-Up Engine
A personal campus code with real value for the student. Sign-ups only count when activated — account created and used within 14 days. We pay for real humans, not screenshots.
Field 5.4
Field Notes
One monthly dispatch to HQ: what students think of AI now, what competitors do on campus, one feature request with a story. Best insight gets your name on it, company-wide.
Tentpole · Once a semester
The Great Offline
A big, weird, analog event — a 200-person phones-in-a-basket dinner, a typewriter poetry booth on the quad, a "data confessional." Designed to be photographed, precisely because it's offline.
Tentpole · Annual
Blobfest
All twenty flown to HQ. Two days with founders and product teams, one day planning the semester, one legendary dinner. Attendance is a perk money can't buy — you have to be one of the twenty.
Live Blob
Live Blob 07 of twenty
The Signature Perk

A numbered Live Blob.
One of twenty in existence.

Every ambassador receives a physical blob companion — number engraved. It goes on desks, into event photos, and into lore. When you graduate out, the Blob stays with you; the number is retired. New cohort, new numbers.

You'll understand when it arrives.

Financial Aid · The Stack

The incentive stack

Cash makes it a real job. Access makes it a cool one. The career track makes it a smart one.

Layer Two
The unbuyable layer
The numbered Live Blob. Merch that can't be bought, only earned. Early access to everything. A direct line to the founding team — no community-manager buffer. Blobfest, on us.
Layer Three

Admissions · How to Apply

Getting in

Designed to be un-ChatGPT-able. And yes, we can tell.

1
Three questions
No resume first. What have you organized that people showed up to? What does your campus get wrong about AI? $150, three weeks, 40 people talking about privacy — the plan? Obvious AI drafting is an automatic no.
2
The voice note
A 90-second memo: "Convince us your campus is the one." We’re listening for a human, not a pitch.
3
The live plan
A 30-minute call where you plan a real first event with the Program Lead. We’re watching for hosting instinct, not polish.
4
Cohort matching
Final twenty chosen for coverage — campus, discipline, vibe. Announced together as a class, with names, campuses, and Blob numbers.
Applications open 6 weeks before semester start, close after 3 · decisions within 10 days · onboarding the week before classes begin.
The Academic Calendar

The semester arc

Week 0 · Onboarding
Brand voice, privacy deep-dive, event kit, code + dashboard live, and the Live Blob arrives (ceremonially).
Weeks 1–4
First Analog Hour; campus recon in the first field note; code seeded in three physical spots.
Weeks 5–8
First Blob Session with a partner club; mid-semester 1:1 with the Program Lead.
Weeks 9–12
The Great Offline tentpole; push toward sign-up milestones.
Weeks 13–16
Finals-aware wind-down (study-hall takeovers, light touch); semester retro; Top Blob announced.
Break
Blobfest (spring cohort) or an async planning sprint (fall).
Office of the Dean · HQ

What HQ puts in

A program this curated fails if it's under-supported. A dedicated Campus Program Lead (a job, not a side quest), a monthly all-cohort call that's actually good, 48-hour channel response, the full event kit, and a live payout dashboard — ambassadors should never have to ask what they've earned.

$160K
Base stipends (20 ambassadors)
$25–60K
Performance compensation
$27K
Event budgets
$25K
Blobfest
$15K
Swag & Live Blobs
~$250–290K all-in. Cheap for a founding community and a permanent insight channel.

$1,000/month + incentives · 5–8 hrs/week · applications close in 3 weeks

This posting was written by a person. We mention that because we're an AI company, and you'd be right to be suspicious. Blob makes AI that's actually on your side — private by design. We're hiring twenty students, twenty total, not to spam group chats with a referral code, but to host: phones-down dinners about what AI should never do, workshops on using AI without it using you, one gloriously weird offline event a semester, and honest monthly notes on what we're getting wrong.

You're probably not who other programs hire. You're the person who fills a room on a Tuesday, who knows the dining-hall staff by name, whose group chat decides where everyone goes on Friday. You have real opinions about privacy, and at least one is spicy. We do not care about your follower count. We will not ask for it.

What you get
Base pay + bonuses that mean a good semester pays real money · merch that can't be bought, only earned · early access to everything · a direct line to the people building it · a paid trip to Blobfest · an internship fast-track · and a numbered Live Blob, one of twenty in existence, with your number on it.

How to apply: No resume. No cover letter. Answer three short questions and record a 90-second voice memo telling us why your campus is the one. If an AI writes your answers we'll know — detecting that is, awkwardly for you, our literal job.

Twenty spots. One per campus. The number on the Blob is waiting.
